Requirements
Dedicated 220V/240V Electrical Circuit with 30-Amp Breaker:
Electric dryers require HIGH-VOLTAGE dedicated circuit (NOT standard 110V). Typically 220V or 240V with 30-amp breaker. Outlet behind dryer location. Electric dryers draw 5,000-6,000 watts during heating cycle - much higher than gas dryers' 110V controls.
220V Outlet Type (3-Prong or 4-Prong):
Outlet type determines required power cord:
- 3-Prong Outlet (3-Wire): Older homes (pre-1996). Two hot wires + neutral. No separate ground wire.
- 4-Prong Outlet (4-Wire): Newer homes (1996+). Two hot wires + neutral + ground. Current electrical code standard.
Access to Appropriate Outside Venting:
Electric dryers MUST vent to outside (typically 4" duct through exterior wall). Venting removes moisture and lint. Venting inside is DANGEROUS (moisture damage, lint fire hazard). Existing vent opening must be accessible from dryer location.
IMPORTANT: New 220V Power Cord and Vent Kit Required:
You must purchase NEW 220V power cord ($20-40 - correct type for your outlet: 3-prong or 4-prong) and NEW vent kit ($15-30) for your installation. Dryers do NOT come with power cords. Existing power cords and exposed venting materials CANNOT be reused (user's critical requirement). This ensures safe, code-compliant connections.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long does electric dryer installation take in the Atlanta area?
Most electric dryer installations take 1.5-2.5 hours, including disconnection and removal of old dryer, NEW power cord installation, NEW vent kit installation, 220V electrical connection, and comprehensive operational testing. Stacking installations or pedestal installations may take 2-3 hours.
Q: Why can't I reuse my existing power cord and vent duct?
Existing power cords and exposed venting materials CANNOT be reused because: (1) Power cords: Dryers don't include cords - must purchase separately. Old cords may be damaged, corroded, wrong type for outlet, or non-code-compliant. (2) Vent ducts: Old vents accumulate lint buildup creating fire hazard. You must purchase NEW 220V power cord ($20-40 - correct type for outlet) and NEW vent kit ($15-30).
Q: What is the difference between 3-prong and 4-prong power cords?
3-Prong (NEMA 10-30): Older standard (pre-1996). Two hot wires + neutral. No separate ground wire. Still code-compliant for existing 3-wire outlets. 4-Prong (NEMA 14-30): Newer standard (1996+). Two hot wires + neutral + ground. Current electrical code for new installations. You MUST match cord type to outlet type. Check your outlet BEFORE purchasing cord!
Q: Can I upgrade my 3-prong outlet to 4-prong?
Yes, but it requires running new wire from electrical panel (additional charge $150-300). Most dryers work fine with 3-prong outlets using proper 3-prong cord - upgrading is optional unless you prefer for safety or code compliance for home sale.
Q: Do electric dryers need outside venting?
YES! Electric dryers MUST vent to outside (typically 4" duct through exterior wall) to remove: (1) Moisture (clothes release 2-4 gallons water per load - causes mold/mildew if vented inside), (2) Lint (highly flammable - fire hazard if accumulates - 14,000+ dryer fires per year). Venting inside is DANGEROUS and code violation. Side venting NOT available per user limitation.
Q: What size electrical circuit do electric dryers need?
Electric dryers require dedicated 220V/240V circuit with 30-amp breaker. Dryers draw 5,000-6,000 watts during heating cycle. This is HIGH VOLTAGE (NOT standard 110V). Circuit should be dedicated (not shared with other appliances). Most homes built after 1970 have 220V dryer circuit in laundry room.
Q: What is the difference between gas and electric dryers?
Electric Dryers: Use 220V electrical heating element. Advantages: No gas connection needed, simpler installation, works anywhere with 220V. Disadvantages: Higher operating cost ($0.30-0.50/load), slower drying, higher electricity usage. Gas Dryers: Use natural gas or propane for heating. Advantages: Lower operating cost ($0.15-0.25/load), faster drying, gentler on fabrics. Disadvantages: Requires gas connection, more complex installation, requires gas leak testing.
Q: Can I stack my washer and dryer?
Yes! We provide stacking installation with $49 installation fee (user's requirement) IF you have purchased the CORRECT stacking kit designed specifically for your washer and dryer models (typically $50-150). Both appliances must be front-load style. Stacking saves significant laundry room space.
Q: Can you reverse the door swing?
Yes! We offer door swing reversal service (additional charge $50-100). Reversing door hinge allows door to open opposite direction for convenient access based on your laundry room layout. Most modern dryers support door reversal - verify in manual.
Q: How often should I clean my dryer vent?
Dryer vents should be professionally cleaned EVERY 12 months (more often if large household or heavy dryer use). Lint buildup causes: (1) Fire hazard (14,000+ dryer fires per year - lint is extremely flammable), (2) Longer dry times, (3) Higher energy bills, (4) Dryer damage. Clean lint filter after EVERY load.
Q: Do you handle disposal of my old dryer?
Yes! For $25, we'll haul away your old electric dryer and take it for proper recycling. This is optional but highly recommended for complete service.
Q: What brands of electric dryers can you install?
We install all major brands including Samsung (steam, smart WiFi), LG (TurboSteam, AI sensors), Whirlpool (AccuDry sensor, Wrinkle Shield), Maytag (PowerDry, Extra Power button), GE (Profile, Cafe series), Electrolux (luxury features, Perfect Steam), Amana (budget-friendly), Kenmore (discontinued but serviced), and all other manufacturers.
